Oaxaca Congress promotes, eradicate illegal logging in Oaxaca
San Raymundo Jalpan, Oax. December 12, 2021.- Concerned about the damage caused by illegal logging, deforestation and desertification, the 65th Legislature demanded that the various competent authorities implement actions and stop these problems.
Oaxaca ranks third nationally in forest production and also in the number of farms certified under the "Forest Stewardship Council" scheme, with almost 100,000 hectares. In addition to pioneering the cultivation of forests through community forestry, therefore, caring for forested areas is a priority.
Through an urgent and obvious resolution approved by the Plenary Assembly, this Sovereignty called for the eradication of illegal logging in the entity, the director of the State Forestry Commission, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Development, the state delegates of the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, the National Forestry Commission and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection.
This parliamentary action was promoted by the deputy, Luis Eduardo Rojas Zavaleta, of the PRI Parliamentary Group, who states that every year 500 thousand hectares are lost in the country, placing it in fifth place in deforestation worldwide.
